HAWAI WAIHONUA ROOFTOP DECK

HAWAI WAIHONUA ROOFTOP DECK

End-matched This reclaimed / recovered old jungle Mahogany would normally be headed for an inglorious end, as core stock inside plywood. This is because this wood, once sawn into boards, is prone to developing sap-stain, (an enzymatic stain which happens when heat and water hit the exposed wood surfaces which disappears when heat treated).

This is the most beautiful of all of the woods!

COLORADO HOUSE THERMO ASH

COLORADO HOUSE THERMO ASH

After recent major fires swept thru the mountains of Colorado, thermo-modified woods were one the products identified that will help reduce fire risk when rebuilding.

These products are not only fire resistant, but also have an insulation value, keeping buildings warmer in winter & cooler in the summer, and they are waster, bug and rot resistant too.

This part of Colorado was ravaged by two major wild fires in a short period of time, with each fire burning some 500 beautiful mountain homes. The fire marshal recommended thermo-modified woods, as a product that will resist wild-fires, with it’s high class “B” fire rating. These woods are also approved on the Cal WildFire (urban interface) WUI initiative.

PRIVATE HOUSE IN PENAFIEL

PRIVATE HOUSE IN PENAFIEL

The modern single-family house is located in rural area in Penafiel Portugal, which has been used for agricultural purposes for centuries. The natural material choices such as sustainable Lunawood Thermowood and granite stone respect the history of the area and the surrounding environment. The clean-cut façade of the building is a beautiful combination of these two different materials. The narrow Lunawood  Thermowood facade gives the house a contemporary look while the stone material is reminiscent of the cultural history of the area . B(A)ª Balthazar Aroso arquitectos chose to use vertical facade for this building, which gives the house a contemporary look. The end result is both sustainable and visual. Under the influence of sunlight, the facade cladding achieves beautiful weathered grey look. Lunawood offers also pre-greyed facade panels to achieve that gray tone immediately.

MULTI-FAMILY APARTMENT BUILDING IN ALBOI, AVEIRO

Architect Ricardo Viera de Melo from RVDM completed this prototype box-like apartment building for families.

The solid volumes in the cubic creative contours with large windows, contrast with the original surroundings, adding to its charm.

The exterior Facade is made from durable and sustainable Lunawood Thermowood. The material is suitable in any climate and thermal conductivity is much lower than normal, untreated wood, therefore making it the obvious choice for Portugal and other countries in the Mediterranean.
